Note: Europcar does not cover water and under-carraige damage for Classic, Classic Plus rates.

3. Delivery/Collection

4. Additional Driver Surcharges

Additional driver surcharge - R220 per additional driver per rental
Charged directly to the hirer.

5. Optional extras

6. Cross Border Travelling

1. A letter of authorisation must be requested at the time of reservation for all cross border travelling.  Specific cross border information may be obtained from Imperial Car Rental-Europcar's Central Reservations Office.
2. Imperial Car Rental-Europcar will not be held responsible if a renter is refused entry into another country.
3. All vehicles entering Namibia will have to pay a Cross Border charge.  A Cross Border Certificate will be issued by the Namibian authorities.  All Cross Border documentation is to be left in the glove compartment or handed to an Imperial Car Rental-Europcar representative.  A penalty/fee of up to ZAR 5 000 may be levied if the documentation is not produced/found.
4. From South Africa vehicles are allowed into Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Swaziland and Mozambique.  Vehicles are not allowed into Angola and Zimbabwe
Mozambique & Zambia :
Only car groups J, A, T, B, C, D & F are allowed to cross into these countries.
International passport holders (not African) are permitted to cross with groups W,V, S & E.
African passport holders must have Directors approval for all rentals crossing these borders (all vehicle groups).
5. A non-refundable fee of will be levied for all vehicles crossing boarders:
Cross border charges (NON-REFUNDABLE AMOUNTS):
Botswana  :   R550.00
Swaziland  :   R550.00
Namibia   :   R550.00
Lesotho   :   R550.00
Mozambique & Zambia :    R1300.00
Additional excess of R7500 applies to all rentals (regardless of the rental rate type) where the accident has occurred in Mozambique or Zambia. For Damage or Loss which occurs in Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland and Namibia, the local brochure excess of that country will apply.

**Note - A R500 handling fee is applied to all damage/theft occurrances.**

7. One Way Rentals

Domestic
A one-way drop off charge of R700 is levied for rentals terminating in excess of 150 kms from the original rental branch.

International
From South Africa to Namibia - R5000
From South Africa to Botswana - R1000
From South Africa to (Swaziland) - R800
From South Africa to Lesotho - R800

8. Young Drivers

Applies to renters under the age of 23, provided that they have been in possession of a valid, unendorsed driver's licence for at least 2 years

9. Conditions of Rental

Vehicles are rented subject to Europcar's standard terms and conditions as reflected on the Europcar rental agreement and are subject to change, without notice.

10. Contract Fee

A contract fee of R40.00 per rental will be charged directly to the client at point of rental.

11. Cancellation

Cancellation Policy:
If you cancel your booking (by notifying the RentalCars-SouthAfrica Reservations department) after the reservation confirmation, you will be charged a cancellation fee of 10% of the total daily rental charge.
If you do not arrive on pick-up date at the Europcar counter to collect the vehicle reserved for you, a no-show fee will be applicable. The no-show fee is the equivalent of 1 day rental (based on Europcar?s extension rate). The above mentioned 10% cancellation fee will also be charged.

13. Drivers Age

Minimum age is 23 years, no maximum age

14. Drivers Licence

Whilst driving, the clients are required to have a valid unendorsed drivers licence in their possession at all times. (Exceptions will be made for certain endorsements related to speeding).

15. Extension of Rental

If the renter wishes to extend the rental beyond the original return date, authorisation must be obtained from Europcar.
Failure to do so will result in Europcar reporting the car stolen and immediately negates all cover
Penalties may be incurred

16. Fuel

Fuel may not be purchased by credit card at petrol stations
Petrol is not included in the rates. Each Europcar vehicle leaves with a full tank and the renter pays for refuelling on return.
Each vehicle is refuelled on termination regardless of whether the fuel gauge indicates that the vehicle is full.

17. Payment

A valid credit card (for additional charges) must be produced at point of rental

Cash will only be accepted for settlement of additional charges

Accepted credit cards are Visa, Master & Diners.

An additional credit card may be requested at the discretion of the company.

Please note: Debit cards are not accepted by Europcar, including Maestro and Electron.

18. Rental Periods

Minimum rental period is 2 nights. There is no refund if vehicles are returned early, within the minimum rental period.
The daily rates are calculated strictly in cycles of 24 hours, from time of pick up to time of drop off
The renter will be billed directly for additional rental days at extension rates, should the vehicle be returned late

19. Rental Requirements

The client would be required to supply the following:
Credit card
Name, address and telephone number
Local contact details
Valid, unedorsed drivers licence
Passport; or ID (South African residents)
Email address

20. Traffic Fines

Should the renter disobey the traffic regulation which results in a fine, such amounts will be debited to the clients credit card. A handling fee of  R220  will be levied. Traffic fines can take up to 3 years to receive and charge.

21. Valet

Should a vehicle be returned with excessive dirt, a minimum amount of R500 will be billed directly to the clients credit card, to cover valet services.

22. Insurance Waivers

Damage and Theft waivers are included in the rates, subject to excess liability (where applicable). Please refer to the information above for details of exactly what is included and excluded.
Europcar does not cover water and under carraige damage.

23. Cross Border Excesses

Insurance Excesses of the country in which the accident  / theft occurs will apply regardless in which country the rental commenced. Excess applicable to different vehicle groups in each applicable country are listed below.

Only groups J, A, T, B, C, D & F are allowed into Mozambique & Zambia.
International passport holders are permitted into Mozambique and Zambia with groups W, V, S & E.

24. Personal Accident Insurance

PAI is included in the rates.
All the occupants in the vehicle are collectively covered for death and disability up to a maximum of R25 000.00 and medical expenses up to R2500.00 per incident.
All PIA claims will be directed to the insurer, Regent Insurance Company Ltd. Europcar acts as the insurer's agent and will not be liable in any way in connection with the insurance cover issued by them.

25. Factors that could negate insurance cover

Gross or Criminal Negligence
Driving under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances
Unsuitable driving or road conditions.
Unauthorised persons driving the vehicle
Unauthorised cross border travel
Not adhering to traffic, road and driving regulations
Failure to obtain authorisation from Europcar to extend the pre-booked rental
Not reporting theft of the vehicle to Europcar and the police within 6 hours .
Not reporting damage to Europcar and the police within 24 hours of the accident.
Not being able to produce the keys in case of theft unless exceptional circumstances apply
Not reporting the exact details of the last known location of the vehicle prior to theft

26. Accident, Loss, Breakdown or Theft

What to do in case of a break-down
Contact Europcar on the emergency toll free number 0800 011 344 (South Africa only) or 0861 131 000
Emergency SOS telephones are conveniently located on most major highways (South Africa only)
Client is not to replace or repair any vehicle parts unless authorised by Europcar

What to do in the event of an accident/theft
Contact Europcar immediately (above number(s))
A full report must be made to the nearest Police Station within 24 hours where an accident has occurred and 6 hours in case of theft.
A police case number must be obtained

In the event of loss or damage europcar reserves the right to bill the renter for such loss or damage regardless of whether or not the renter has signed the post inspection or claim form.

27. Useful Information

Government Tax
Tax is included in the rates but may be subject to change in accordance with Government Legislation in which case rates will be adjusted accordingly.
